Welcome to the New School Year!
Dear Arroyo Vista Wildcat Families,
The AV Parent Teacher Association (PTA) would like to welcome you all to the 2021-22 school year! Following a very challenging and extraordinary year, we are excited to welcome the AV community back to campus with the mantra, “Back to (Almost) Normal, but Better!” We are reviving beloved traditions and programs–such as Family Movie Night, Family Science Night, AV Gives Back, and the Jog-a-Thon fundraiser–and making them better than ever by including some of last year’s virtual formats and new events–like the Wildcat Adventure scavenger hunt–that turned out to be fabulous for our students and families.
Our plan for the year includes a great balance of educational enrichment programs, community building events, community service events, and fundraisers; and our strategy for success relies on close collaboration with families, parent volunteers, our amazing teachers, and our exceptional principal. While we don’t yet know what the year will bring, no matter what curveballs come our way, I am confident that AV PTA will rise to the challenge of our upholding both our stated mission, “supporting teachers, parents, and children,” and that of the National PTA, “one child, one voice.” We will keep the AV spirit alive and ensure that ALL feel included, supported and welcomed in our community.
We are asking EVERY FAMILY to please visit ptav.org/fall by Wednesday, August 18th. The three classes with the most Fall Forms completed will get a Popsicle party for the entire class! On these forms, you will have the opportunity to:
- Donate to our “NO SWEAT” fundraiser. In lieu of traditional fundraisers, we are asking each family to participate in our “No Sweat” fundraiser. This is a one-time $150 tax-deductible donation (suggested amount, although all donations are appreciated). Do you want to know where your fall donations are going and how they are being used?
- Volunteer! Whether you can come to school or work behind the scenes, we need your HELP! There is a job to fit everyone’s schedule and lifestyle. Check out our volunteer opportunities HERE.
- Join our PTA. Your $8 membership donation will help to fund our PTA as well as to support efforts at the city and state levels. Every PTA membership includes access to our annual AV Student Directory.
- Subscribe to Weekly Wildcat E-Newsletter!
We encourage you to get involved in our PTA! Thanks for all your support. We look forward to a great year ahead.

NOTE: There is no PTA Welcome Coffee on the first day of school.
Traffic Around Arroyo Vista
As we return to school, the PTA would like to remind everyone that the safety of our students, staff and families is of the utmost importance. Please take your time when driving around campus, utilize cross walks & crossing guards and please do not double park or park in front of our neighbors’ driveways at drop-off.
There will be three drop-off lanes at Arroyo Vista in the mornings: El Centro for the main gate, Doran for the back gate and the other on Cawston. The Parent-Volunteer Staffed Drop-Off Lane on Cawston St. will be in the Loading Zone by the Kindergarten Gate. The Drop-Off Lane will only be accessible by those taking a left onto Cawston from El Centro (See Map). Parents utilizing drop-off-lanes should remain in their vehicle and pull forward to the gate before letting their students out of the car.
First PTA Meeting of the School Year
Please join us on Wednesday, September 15th at 7pm for our first PTA General Association meeting of the school year. This meeting will be held virtually. We look forward to seeing you there. Future meetings are scheduled for the following dates:
October 20th
February 16th
March 16th
May 18th
All meetings are held on Wednesdays at 7pm. Additional meetings may be added.
Kinder Playdate
We had a fantastic turn out for our annual Kindergarten Playdate on campus this year! We had 67 families register and over 80 students in attendance. We all know how nerve-racking the start of the new school year can be, so we armed our families with FAQ’s, PTA volunteer opportunities and had parents with older siblings help answer questions. Families were gifted with AV pencils and AV car magnets to get a jump start on school pride! It was such a success! they definitely got a taste of our AV Wildcat community!
A huge THANK YOU to Panda Korman and Minsun Meeker for organizing this event!
Save the Date – AV Movie Night 2021 !
Mark your calendars and save the date for Friday, August 27th. Arroyo Vista Movie Night 2021 returns this year and we are so excited!
