AV Weekly Wildcat – March 1 2020

Great job to all the students who helped raise money for AV by sweating it out at the Jog-A-Thon last Friday. Thank you to Jennifer Wang, Christine Tong, and Keri Tuazon for coordinating the event. Thank you to the AV Jog-A-Thon volunteer crew for their help keeping the day running smoothly. Thank you to the parent volunteers who tallied laps and cheered on the students. We are so proud of everyone for bringing their reusable water bottles— way to reduce waste and help AV go green!  Now, let’s get those pledges and donations in by Monday March 9th so that the money can be counted towards the Golden Shoe Awards for your student’s class!

AV Gives Back

We had an AMAZING turnout for last weekend’s AV Gives Back! Over 50 families made cards and packed 200 meal bags for food-insecure students in Alhambra during their Spring Break. Families also read books about childhood hunger together to foster a deeper understanding of the issue. Heartfelt thank yous go out to Kelly Kwan who led the event, to the helpful 5th graders who lent a hand instructing, and to all of the volunteers who made the day possible. Thank you also to AV PTA for sponsoring this project.

Science Fair

Thank you to all the young scientists who contributed to AV’s Science Fair/STEM Expo! Students from kindergarten through 5th grade applied their curiosity, their creativity, and the scientific method to so many projects including creating a volcano, reverse-engineering a cell-phone, building a robot, and so much more. Thank you to Glenna Shih and Caroline Min for their hard work coordinating the event. Thank you also to the SPHS Skills USA Robotics Team who came out to demonstrate their robots.

Drop-off Lane Volunteers: Calling All 4th Grade Parents

Each month we are asking for parent volunteers from one grade-level to to staff the morning drop-off lane from 7:45-8:15 am.  March is 4th Grade.

Volunteering takes 30 minutes and you can bring your kids. So let’s rise, shine, and grab a neon green safety vest! Thank you for helping keep students safer at school!
