On Thursday 11/5, all AV PTA members should have received a link to the AV Directory via email. “The Bright Side” Submissions Extension: 11/13

We are extending submissions to The Bright Side to Friday November 13! We want 10 more submissions per class so each grade is represented!

Submission Guidelines:
1. Decide what you would like to send. It could be artwork, a photo, a recipe, or a how-to activity that specifically pertains to what you have been doing during the pandemic. Here are some examples of what students can submit: Activity: I solved a Rubik’s Cube! (with an accompanying photo); Recipe: Home-made bread (with accompanying recipe and optional photo)Writing: Flower Haiku (with accompanying optional illustration or photo); Photo: My family at the beach.

**Please send ONLY the photo and brief description or caption. Do not send a collage or page-design. Please leave all design to The Bright Side Team! **

2. Include student’s name and grade.

3. Submit by NOVEMBER 13. Email your submission to: [email protected]

Please include high-resolution images if possible (300dpi). Families with multiple children can submit separately or together! 


Art Supply Pick-up

We are excited to have Mrs. Swanborn back at AV this season for the Art Unit! Art class means that students will need art supplies! Volunteers will be stationed at the school to distribute supplies. Please refer to the following schedule to pick up on your student’s designated day.

5th Grade: Nov 9 3-4pm
4th Grade: Nov 9 4-5 pm
3rd Grade: Nov 10 4-5 pm
2nd Grade: Nov 12 3-4 pm
1st Grade: Nov 12 4-5pm
Kinder/TK: Nov 10 3-4pm
ALL GRADES: Friday Nov 13 11:30-1pm
**You may pick up for siblings at the same time. You can also come at a different grade’s time slot if you cannot make your student’s assigned time & date.
**If you are unable to pick up on the designated time/day, please reach out to your student’s room parent to schedule an alternate pick up.

AV Dance Unit: Week 1

Ms. Alison’s Dance Class is underway! This year, the theme is: Dancing through the Decades. Each week, Ms. Alison will send out a weekly dance tutorial that will end in a virtual flash mob to the song, “Put a Little Love in Your Heart.”

AV Spirit Day: 11/13 

Friday, November 13 is our next Spirit Day. The theme is “Color Day.” Brighten up the Zoom rooms by coming colorfully dressed.

Popsicle Sales: 11/13

[Come support our 5th graders and buy your favorite tasty treat. All popsicles are 1$ and can be purchased in the drive through lane on Cawston St. between 11:30 and 12:30pm.]


November/December Art Project

Our November / December school wide art project is based on the work of contemporary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Materials will be included with your classroom supply pickup. If you’d like to lead this project as a parent volunteer, please let your teacher know!

Virtual Tiger Run  

This year’s SPHS Tiger Run will be Virtual. Pick your own race date between 11/20-12/5. Choose 1K, 5K, 10K, or any distance that you’d like to walk, stroll, jog or run safely on the streets – or on your treadmill. Have kids? Let them be a part of the Cub Run.

Register HERE . You can direct $10 of your registration to the club, activity or team of your choice! You’ll receive a student-designed 2020 Tiger Run T-shirt, a commemorative sticker and the chance to win prizes from local SoPas businesses.

Check your bookshelves for new and used books, CDs, & DVDs, and drop off your items in collection boxes located outside the main office of every South Pas school. Your donations will directly support Southern California schools, hospitals, and children centers, partner nonprofits, and our environment! ]
