How do the relay try-outs work?
During the week of 4/15, relay try-outs will be held during your child’s regularly scheduled P.E. class.  For Kindergarten and TK, we will arrange a time with the teachers for try-outs during the school day.  If your child wants to try out for the relay team, please indicate this on their entry form.  The P.E. coaches will be responsible for timing the students.  Parent volunteers will help organize.

Do the relay teams practice?
The relay teams will practice baton hand-offs during P.E. class the week leading up to the meet.

Does the relay count as one of my child’s events?
No.  The relay is in addition to your child’s maximum number of individual events (1 event for TK – 2 and 3 events for 3-5).

What does it mean if my child is an alternate on a relay team?
Grades TK/K, 1st, and 2nd will each have 1 alternate per 8-person (8x50m) relay team.  Grades 3rd, 4th and 5th will each have 2 alternates, one for the 4-person relay team A and one for the 4-person relay team B (4x100m).  Alternates are considered part of the team and should go with the team down to the field at the time of the event.  Alternates may be called upon to run at the last second before the race. Alternates will receive medals for their events along with the rest of the team.
