5th Grade Promotion (All School Year) – 5th Grade parent volunteers needed to serve on committees to plan and implement this end of year tradition (art, music, yearbook, fundraising, class gift, end of year party, etc.)
All City Track Meet (April or May 2022) – Students from AV, Monterey Hills, Marengo, and Holy Family participate in a city-wide track and field competition. Volunteers assist at practices and/or on the day of the event.
All School Sing (December 2021) – A volunteer is needed to help plan and run our annual All School Sing, including helping to teach one or more grades the selected songs via biweekly practices during school hours.
Art Docent (All School Year) – Lead art projects for their child’s class, either from an existing curriculum or of their own creation. Work directly with the teacher to schedule projects and direct the class, with assistance from additional parent volunteers if needed. Training, curriculum support and materials for projects provided by the AV PTA Art Docent Co-Chairs.
Art Volunteers (All School Year) – Assist the classroom’s Art Docent; help prepare and install the decorations for All School Sing and run art stations for Art Happenings, twice-yearly after school art events organized by the AV PTA Art Docent Co-Chairs.
AV Gives Back/Community Outreach (TBD and February or March 2022) – Help organize and run two family-friendly community service events.
Book Fair (November 2021 and April 2022) – Help set up, clean up, and work shifts during both Book Fairs.
Emergency Drills – Participate in emergency drills that help school staff and students prepare for disasters.
Equity Committee (All School Year) – Join the AV Equity Committee and get involved in projects they support. Help with such tasks as copying and distributing flyers, surveys, etc.; researching D/E/I resources; and help with set-up or tear-down of in-person events.
Jog-a-Thon (February 2022) – On the day of the event, help set-up, clean- up, mark student laps, count overall laps, pass out popsicles, etc. during this important PTA fundraiser.
Language Support (All School Year) – Provide support for non-English speaking families. Your information will be provided to the AV main office staff, teachers, counselors, and Principal Sinclair.
Marketplace (December 2021) – Kids develop business plans and sell their own homemade goods and services. Volunteers needed on the day of the event to help set- up, check in on business owners and shoppers, clean- up, etc.
Movie Night (August 2021) – Help with event-day preparations, set-up and clean-up.
Read Across America (March 2022) – Help with activities and classroom reading at this fun week-long event to celebrate children’s love of reading.
Red Ribbon Week (October 2021) – Speak in classrooms and/or help plan and present activities and events during the week-long national initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Reflections (Fall 2021) – Judge, mentor, and help with the art show.
Science Fair (February 2022) – Help organize, sell boards, set up, and clean-up for the event.
Science Night (January 2022) – Volunteers are needed during this fun, informational and interactive science-themed showcase to help with set-up, clean-up and guiding presenters to their classrooms.
Site Beautification (All School Year) – Help implement projects that promote beauty on school grounds.
Sports Day (May 2022) – Help supervise, run, and engage children during sports activities and games at this annual “field day” event.
Staff Appreciation Week (May 2022 and All School Year) – Help prepare for staff appreciation lunches and Staff Appreciation Week.
Talent Show (Spring 2022) – Assist at auditions and performances to set up, clean up, and keep the show running smoothly.
Tech Helpers (All School Year) – Help support families and teachers with technical challenges. No need to be an expert!
Vision & Hearing Screening (December 2021) – Help organize students on testing days.
Wildcat Adventure (April 2022) – Help at various stations including but not limited to – registration/check in, providing physical challenges at select locations, finish line cheering section and handing out treats.
