Weekly Wildcat – August 22, 2021

Fall Forms – Top Participating Classes!

Thank you to everyone who filled out the Fall Forms and for your continued support of AV PTA!   Congratulations to the following classes for having the top participation for turning in Fall Forms. Since we had an overwhelming school wide participation rate of 87%, and no class was below 70%, every class will be getting a Popsicle Party!

We’d love to get it to 100% so if you haven’t had a chance to fill it out, you can still go online to ptav.org/fall to sign up to be a part of AV PTA (no volunteering required) which automatically signs you up for the weekly newsletters and donate to the “No Sweat” fundraiser.

Wish Night

Our virtual Back to School Night on Thursday was a huge success. Thank you for attending and donating! While you may donate at any time throughout the year, donating early is ideal because it helps our teachers  budget and plan accordingly.  We are accepting Wish Night donations online at ptav.org/wish-night, or you can mail a check along with your donation form to: Arroyo Vista, Attn: Wish Night, 335 El Centro St.

You’ve heard from your teachers and seen their Wish Night lists, here is what your Wish Night gift can grant to our School Wide Programs. Our staff is dedicated to enriching your children!

Traffic and Drop -Off Lane Reminders

As we return to school, the PTA would like to remind everyone that the safety of our students, staff and families is of the utmost importance.

When using the drop-off lanes:

    • Please have your child ready to get out of the car, with their backpack, lunch, water bottle, mask, etc. on hand.
    • If your child needs help walking to the gate or getting out of the car, please park and walk until they get more independent.  Everyone must exit cars on the sidewalk side.
    • Drivers must remain in the car.

And for general traffic safety…

    • Please take your time when driving around campus.
    • Utilize crosswalks & crossing guards.  Please do not j-walk, walk in the street, or cross without the guard.
    • Let’s be good neighbors and not block driveways.
    • Please do not double park or drop off your child or park in red zones.

We encourage walking and biking!  There is a bike locker on campus for kids to store their bikes and scooters.

AV Movie Night 2021  – Postponed

Movie Night has been postponed.  It will not take place on Friday, August 27th, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that a better time to do a large school-wide on-campus event will come sooner rather than later.

Dismissal Procedures

Dear AV Families,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through welcoming back 710 AV Wildcats in a safe and orderly fashion!  In an effort to lessen the congestion during arrival and dismissal, we have been making changes to the gate assignments.  We’ve consolidated all of the changes into a table for your reference.  Everything remains the same as last week with the exception of fourth grade.

DORAN GATE CHANGES:

ALSO:  For the next few weeks at least until staffing needs are met and kinks are worked through, the DORAN GATE will be WALK-UP ONLY.  Please park and walk.

Thank you so much for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sinclair

Latino/Hispanic Heritage Month
