Weekly Wildcat – August 9th

Welcome Back Arroyo Vista!

The AV PTA is so excited to welcome you to the 2026/2027 school year! Whether you are returning to AV or joining our community for the very first time, we cannot wait to get this year started.

Even before the first bell rings on Wednesday, we are already planning a year full of opportunities to connect, celebrate, and build our AV community. In just the first few months, you will have opportunities to join us for Back to School Night, grade-level playdates, and community favorites like AV Movie Night. And, of course, we are looking forward to beloved AV traditions like the All-School Sing, Jog A Thon, and so much more. We also have a few new things in the works that we cannot wait to share with you!

One of the best ways to find your place at AV is through volunteering. If you are new to the PTA, you may be surprised by just how many different ways there are to help. Volunteering might mean giving 30 minutes from home, spending an hour on campus, sharing a skill, or taking on a bigger role. There is truly something for everyone. Our volunteers make these experiences possible, but just as importantly, volunteering is one of the best ways to meet other families, connect with your child’s school experience, and become part of the AV community.

This week, we are also launching Wildcat First Steps, a new way for families to get connected to the PTA and find their place in our community. It has been a true labor of love, and we are excited to create a simpler home base where you can stay informed, complete your first steps, and discover ways to get involved. Wildcat First Steps opens August 11 at 5 PM. All you need to get started is your child’s teacher’s name.

And mark your calendars for Back to School Night on August 19. This adults-only evening is your chance to hear what the year holds for your student, meet their teacher, and get a closer look at all that makes AV such a special community.

We are excited to welcome so many familiar faces and so many new ones. There is a lot ahead, and we cannot wait to build this year with you!

With gratitude,

O’ryan McKinney-Bruskin & Sadie Stockdale-Jefferson

Introducing Wildcat First Steps: A New Way to Connect with AV PTA

For many years, families have completed our annual Fall Forms to join the PTA, share their information, get connected with our community, and support our first fundraiser of the year. This year, we are taking the next step and introducing Wildcat First Steps, a simpler and more connected way for families to begin the school year.

Launching Wednesday, August 11 at 5:00 PM, Wildcat First Steps brings everything you need into one easy process. Once classroom assignments are announced, all you need to get started is your child’s teacher’s name. It takes less than 10 minutes!

Complete your Wildcat First Steps

Through Wildcat First Steps, families can:

  • Join the AV PTA and become a Founding Member
  • Share how you would like to get involved
  • Complete beginning of year information
  • Support your child’s classroom through Wish Night
  • And more

Join by Monday, August 24 to become a Founding Member this school year and receive exclusive AV merch.

Completing Wildcat First Steps will create your Wildcat Homebase account, your new home for all things AV PTA. Throughout the year, you can return to Wildcat Homebase to register for events, volunteer, make donations, and stay connected with our school community.

As we begin the year, we are prioritizing our Wish Night fundraiser so our teachers have the support they need from the very start. Wish Night gives families the opportunity to donate directly to their child’s classroom and provide teachers with the resources and materials that help create an amazing classroom experience. Wish Night also supports broader school needs through our All School Fund and Principal’s Fund, helping provide resources and experiences that benefit our entire AV community.

Our annual No Sweat Campaign will return in September and will continue to provide the funding needed for the programs, events, and experiences that make Arroyo Vista such a special place.

Wildcat First Steps will close Monday, August 24.

We know changes like this take a little getting used to, and we are excited about this new experience and all the ways it will make it easier for our community to stay connected. Thank you for taking this first step with us!

One account. One place. All things AV PTA.

Sip & Spoke: AV Community Event and Fundraiser

The countdown to the first day of school is on, and we can’t think of a better way to welcome the new school year than getting outside in our community.

August 11th, the day before school begins, hop on your bike or put on your walking shoes and visit our wonderful community partners Burden of Proof, Mission Wines, and Teamorrow. Whether you’re raising a glass of wine, enjoying a refreshing mocktail, or sipping a boba, there’s something for everyone as we toast the end of summer and the start of a brand new school year.

As an added bonus, 10% of every purchase will come right back to AV to support our AV Bike Bus, helping more Wildcats roll safely to school together. Just be sure to mention Arroyo Vista Bike Bus when you order so AV receives the credit.

Get moving!
