At our next General Association meeting on 3/16, the PTA membership will review and vote on any changes to our bylaws as well as elect next year’s Executive Board members (see nominees below).


AV Gives Back – February Service Project 

The Community Outreach Committee is excited to resume in-person AV Gives Back service projects on campus! This month, third graders in Mrs. Bose’s and Mrs. Cabot’s classes, and fourth graders in Mrs. Reed’s and Mrs. Gresham’s classes collectively made over 350 valentines for local senior citizens!! Valentines will be delivered to the South Pasadena Care Center and Senior Center on Monday.

5th Grade Parents Needed! 

Each month, a different grade will be asked to volunteer to keep our drop-off lanes running. Without volunteers, we will have to close the lanes. February is 5th grade month! Spots are still available for the Marengo Elementary PTA Lunar New Year event on March 6 at Orange Grove Park! In association with the City of South Pasadena and the South Pasadena Chinese-American Club, please join the community for a unique, outdoor, walk-thru event with giveaways and a BIG SLIDE for kids, and food and entertainment for all.

Dim sum, mochi donuts and boba drinks are available for PRE-ORDER until February 18, 2022. Choose your 30-minute “race” time to walk The Great Race trail to learn about the Chinese zodiac and lunar new year traditions. Register today at

South Pasadena children and teens are encouraged to use their imagination and design a one-of-a-kind bookmark inspired by the 2022 Summer Reading Program theme “Read Beyond the Beaten Path” or that promotes books, reading and libraries. Bookmark Contest entries must be delivered to the Children’s Services desk by Wednesday, March 1, 2022.

Entries will be judged according to four age categories. Winners will be announced in early April in honor of National Library Week. Winning entries will be reproduced as bookmarks and will be distributed during the summer of 2022. All entries must have a parent or guardian signature as approval for the bookmark artwork to be submitted into the Bookmark Contest.
