PTA Art Reflections Celebration & Contest

Does your child enjoy art, music, photography, film, writing or dance? Join us and submit your child’s art to the PTA Reflections Art contest by October 20th!

All entries will receive ribbons and be eligible for medals. This year’s theme is “Show Your Voice…” Students use the theme as an inspiration for their art. Please visit AV student’s previous artwork for inspiration.

Reflections encourages students of all ages to:

*Unleash creative talents and be inspired
*Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork
*Experience the fun and joy of making art
*Tap into critical thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
*Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.

To enter, please submit this form to this email address by October 20th! Please also submit your child’s original artwork to the front office by 10/20 to participate in the AV school art showing, held the week of 10/24. *Special Artist Division for students who identify as having a disability.

4th Grade Parents Needed!

Each month, a different grade will be asked to volunteer to keep our drop-off lanes running. Without volunteers, we will have to close the lanes. October is 4th grade month. If you are a 4th grade parent, please, please, please sign up for a day or 3 or 4. We need 4 volunteers per day! Sign Up HERE.

AV Gives Back – 4th Grade Project

This month, 4th Graders decorated cards and filled Birthday Party Bags for South Pasadena kiddos served by a local community pantry. Recipients will have everything they need to make their birthday a little extra special! AV families can contribute to the community pantry ALL YEAR by placing non-perishable food and unused hygiene/household items in the AV Free Pantry bin by lost & found, or by contacting Kelly Kwan.

Movie Night Recap

Last Friday, Arroyo Vista came out for what is quickly becoming one of our school’s favorite events – AV Movie Night! While they waited for the movie to start, families picnicked in the courtyard and enjoyed games and inflatables on AV’s new playground. The 5th Grade Promotions Committee sold popcorn, popsicles, and other treats to raise funds for this year’s graduates. When the sun set, families enjoyed a screening of Sing 2 that left kids dancing in the aisle. And again, the kids closed out the night with multiple conga lines!

AV PTA wants to thank our co-chairs Janis Ortega-Gomez and Noël Mika Bahamón for making this such a special night for all. We would also like to give a special shout-out to the parent volunteers, the 5th Grade Promotions team, as well the South Pasadena DUDES for lending a hand when we needed it the most. Can’t wait for next year!
